I've left my alterations to the last minute! Can you help?If you’re in a tight spot, please get in touch as soon as possible. While I can’t always guarantee availability at short notice, I’ll absolutely do my best to help. If I’m fully booked, I’m happy to recommend another trusted professional who may be able to assist.
-
Can you store my dress before or after alterations? While your dress is actively going through alterations, I offer complimentary storage for up to 3 months. COMING SOON ... If you need to store your gown earlier or keep it safely tucked away after the alterations are complete, we can arrange secure storage through The Gown Room, a dedicated service I run in collaboration with Olivia Rose Bridal. Just ask and I’ll talk you through the options!
-
When should I book my dress in?I take bookings up to 12 months in advance, and most brides book their fitting as soon as they’ve ordered their dress. Alterations usually begin about 8–10 weeks before the wedding, or 8–10 weeks before you need your dress (for example, if you’re having a destination wedding). Your final fitting is usually 1-2 weeks before the big day. You can take your dress with you after the final fitting, or we can store it until you need it. You’re welcome to book your fitting in advance through my online booking calendar. Just select a date and time around 8–10 weeks before your wedding day. Spots fill up quickly — especially during the busy summer months — so I recommend booking 6–12 months ahead to secure your place and ensure a relaxed, stress-free experience.
-
Can you customise my dress (e.g., add sleeves, reshape neckline)?Yes! I love helping brides make their dress the one. Whether it’s reshaping the neckline, adding sleeves, or completely reworking a design, customisations are definitely possible. Just let me know your vision when you book your consultation.
-
How much do bridal alterations cost? The cost of bridal alterations can vary depending on the changes needed and the construction of your dress. On average, you should budget between $300 and $1000 for alterations. For a complete set of alterations, including a fit adjustment in the bust, waist or hips, hem, and bustle, the typical cost is around $600 to $700 in 2024. Factors that can influence the cost include the number of layers, the complexity of the details, and any customizations. Since every dress is unique, I can't provide an exact quote over the phone or by email. I encourage you to book a consultation so I can assess your dress in person and provide a detailed estimate.
-
Where do I start? To get started with your wedding dress alterations, visit my Wedding Dress Alterations Guide for a step-by-step overview of when to book, how to book, and what to expect along the way.
-
Why is there a consultation fee?The consultation fee simply helps cover the time and care I put into each appointment — from assessing your dress to discussing your vision and offering expert advice. Because I work by appointment and dedicate focused time to each client, this small fee also helps ensure bookings are made by those genuinely considering having their alterations done with me.
-
How many fittings will I need? Most brides will need 2–3 fittings: a first fitting, a progress fitting, and a final fitting. If your alterations involve custom changes or are more complex, we may need additional fittings — and that’s absolutely okay! I offer as many as needed to ensure the perfect fit and peace of mind.
-
How do I book? You can book your consultation online through my Booking Page — it’s the easiest way to view availability and secure a time that suits you. Alternatively you can enquire through my Booking Form if you have questions before booking.
-
How do I get a quote for bridal alterations? The most accurate way to receive a quote is by booking a consultation, where I can assess the garment in person. There is a $30 consultation fee, which is credited toward your alterations if you proceed. You're welcome to send through photos for a rough ballpark estimate, but I can’t provide an accurate quote without seeing how the dress fits your body and understanding its construction in person.
-
Do you offer on-site wedding day gown care assistance?Yes, I offer a professional dressing service to help you get ready on the big day. This includes steaming, last-minute touch-ups, and making sure everything is perfect before you walk down the aisle. You can select this option on the bridal booking form or ask during your fitting.
-
Do you offer steaming?Yes — steaming is available for wedding dresses and formalwear. This is especially helpful if your dress has been packed or creased during travel. Steaming is best done the day or night before your event, allowing the fabric to air out overnight for the perfect finish. You can drop off your attire at my studio for steaming, then pick it up the day before your event—or I can deliver it to your venue for added convenience.
-
Do you make dresses or custom garments?Sometimes! Dressmaking is available on a limited basis. Because it’s time-intensive and costly, I recommend getting in touch well in advance to discuss your ideas. Please note: bespoke garments are generally more expensive than ready-to-wear.
-
Do you offer wedding dress storage? We will soon! I’ve partnered with Olivia Rose Bridal to offer secure, professional gown storage through The Gown Room — a dedicated service located right here in our building. Whether you need short-term storage before alterations or long-term storage after the big day, we've got you covered. If you're interested in storing your dress, just let me know and I’ll guide you through the options!
-
Do you make veils?Yes, I handcraft custom veils to complement your gown and style. Whether you want a dramatic cathedral veil or something soft and simple, we’ll design it together to suit your look. I also have a selection of veils available to try on in my studio, so you can get an idea of what you want.
-
What types of special occasion garments do you alter?I alter a wide range of special occasion attire, including formal gowns, bridesmaid dresses, school formals, eveningwear, ball dresses, men’s suits, and mother-of-the-bride outfits. If you’re unsure whether I can help with your garment, feel free to get in touch — I’m always happy to advise!
-
Why do you charge a consultation fee?The $25 consultation fee helps cover the time and care I put into each appointment — from assessing your garment to discussing your vision and offering expert advice. It also helps ensure bookings are made by those genuinely considering having their alterations done with me. If you go ahead with the alterations, this fee is credited toward your final invoice.
-

-
How much time do you need to complete my alterations? For special occasion alterations, I recommend allowing at least 3–4 weeks before your event to allow time for fittings and any adjustments. Please note: My availability is very limited during the summer wedding season (January–March), so I recommend booking as early as possible if your event falls during this time. If your event is coming up sooner, feel free to get in touch — I may be able to squeeze you in, or I’ll do my best to recommend another trusted professional.
-
How do I get a quote? The best way is to book a consultation so I can see the garment in person. There is a $25 consultation fee for special occasion alterations, which is credited toward your alterations if you proceed. Photos can give me a general idea, but accurate quotes require seeing how the garment fits and how it’s made.
-
