Frequently asked questions
To get started with your wedding dress alterations, visit my Wedding Dress Alterations Guide for a step-by-step overview of when to book, how to book, and what to expect along the way.
I take bookings up to 12 months in advance, and most brides book their fitting as soon as they’ve ordered their dress.
Alterations usually begin about 8–10 weeks before the wedding, or 8–10 weeks before you need your dress (for example, if you’re having a destination wedding). Your final fitting is usually 1-2 weeks before the big day. You can take your dress with you after the final fitting, or we can store it until you need it.
You’re welcome to book your fitting in advance through my online booking calendar. Just select a date and time around 8–10 weeks before your wedding day.
Spots fill up quickly — especially during the busy summer months — so I recommend booking 6–12 months ahead to secure your place and ensure a relaxed, stress-free experience.
You can book your consultation online through my Booking Page — it’s the easiest way to view availability and secure a time that suits you. Alternatively you can enquire through my Booking Form if you have questions before booking.
The cost of bridal alterations can vary depending on the changes needed and the construction of your dress. On average, you should budget between $300 and $1000 for alterations. For a complete set of alterations, including a fit adjustment in the bust, waist or hips, hem, and bustle, the typical cost is around $600 to $700 in 2024.
Factors that can influence the cost include the number of layers, the complexity of the details, and any customizations. Since every dress is unique, I can't provide an exact quote over the phone or by email. I encourage you to book a consultation so I can assess your dress in person and provide a detailed estimate.
The most accurate way to receive a quote is by booking a consultation, where I can assess the garment in person.
There is a $30 consultation fee, which is credited toward your alterations if you proceed.
You're welcome to send through photos for a rough ballpark estimate, but I can’t provide an accurate quote without seeing how the dress fits your body and understanding its construction in person.
The consultation fee simply helps cover the time and care I put into each appointment — from assessing your dress to discussing your vision and offering expert advice. Because I work by appointment and dedicate focused time to each client, this small fee also helps ensure bookings are made by those genuinely considering having their alterations done with me.
While your dress is actively going through alterations, I offer complimentary storage for up to 3 months.
If you need to store your gown earlier or keep it safely tucked away after the alterations are complete, we can arrange secure storage through The Gown Room, a dedicated service I run in collaboration with Olivia Rose Bridal. Just ask and I’ll talk you through the options!
